Finding 2.0 | DjangoConUS 2024

In September 2024, I presented Finding 2.0 at DjangoConUS 2024 in Durham, North Carolina.

The talk explores Django's versioning history and its not-so-straightforward path to achieving version 2. Is there a general hesitancy with releasing library versions starting with a 2-handle (or above)? What holds us back?

I drew parallels between software versioning and personal development, and using my lived experience with cancer, aimed to inspire the audience to release their own version 2 – whether for software libraries they maintain, or for themselves, as people.
